R2E — The Daily Ritual
R2E — Read to Extract — is the original daily ritual of MercyChain, and the only place a pearl is born.
How it works
- Ten phrases arrive each morning — drawn from the books you love and the books you are learning.
- You sit with a page. A sacred page from a book you already love, and a knowledge page from a book you are learning. You read at your own pace; the page knows how long it should take.
- You choose one line. The words that found you, today. Just one. The rest will return another day.
- It is kept in your shell. Your chosen line becomes a pearl — yours to hold, or to give.
One ritual. About two minutes. A pearl, every day.
Once a day, on purpose
R2E is built for once-a-day. Twenty-four hours after the last page, the next page becomes available. The slowness is the point.
The page has a small per-line timer — five seconds at minimum, scaled to the length of the line. It exists so you cannot, by accident, finish a page in the time it takes to scroll a feed. Rushing through a sacred line is the opposite of what the moment is for.
Invitation-gated
R2E is invitation-gated, even for shell holders. When you open R2E for the first time, you ask for an invitation; the answer comes within a day or two. Once you are in, the door stays open every morning.
In two languages
Many of the books inside R2E are bilingual — Arabic and English on the same page. You can read either, or both. The pearl that emerges does not care which language carried you to it.
